Our History
In 2005, Candice Wong, Kelley Bernal, and Warren Weed decided to organize a networking group for emerging people in the insurance industry. This group, called "Emerging Insurance Professionals of Southern California," targeted individuals in the earlier stages of their careers (0-10 years). There were representatives from risk management, brokerage, underwriting, claims, loss control, reinsurance, and many other sectors.
Over the past decade, the group has branched into three chapter (SF, LA, and OC) and each board boasts 7-13 members, respectively. The network base has grown to around 1800 members statewide. Mentoring, education, and networking are the pillars on which the organization stands and events include educational forums, volunteer opportunities, and social gatherings. EIP works with local colleges and universities, in an effort to introduce talented college graduates to the insurance industry. With the generous support of our sponsors, we will be able to continue growing our footprint in the community and provide a broader offering of opportunities to the next generation of insurance industry professionals.
